Everett Children's Adventure Garden
The Everett Children’s Adventure Garden is a unique,
12-acre outdoor/indoor museum where children
discover plant science through fun, hands-on, and
engaging educational programs. Interactive exhibits
convey different plant science concepts. Playful
elements such as topiaries and mazes capture
children’s imaginations and create an atmosphere
of exploration and fun.
GreenSchool
GreenSchool is located in the Enid A. Haupt
Conservatory. GreenSchool workshops offer hands-on,
inquiry-based lessons in a classroom setting, followed
by excursions in the Conservatory, to the Forest, or on
the Garden grounds.
Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden
In the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden, students
learn about plants and the natural world through fun,
hands-on gardening. This 1.5-acre garden is made
up of playful topiaries, a pond teeming with life, a
flourishing meadow, and individual garden plots.
Created and maintained by children, it is a place
where they can dig, weed, compost, and plant.
Enid A. Haupt Conservatory
The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, a New York City
Landmark, is an acre under glass featuring four
distinct climatic regions: Lowland and Upland
Tropical Rain Forests and Deserts of the Americas
and Africa. Exhibits feature misty rain forests,
arid deserts, aquatic plants, and outdoor pools.
Garden Grounds, Forest & Mitsubishi Wild Wetland Trail
The Garden grounds comprise 250 acres featuring
50 gardens and plant collections, and a 50-acre
remnant of the uncut Forest that once covered New
York City. The Mitsubishi Wild Wetland Trail—specially
designed for children—highlights life in a wetland
marsh. In all seasons the gardens and Forest are
sources of inspiration.
All school programs make use of our one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor facilities.
All programs are created in accordance with
New York State Core Curriculum, National
Science Performance Standards, and New
York City Science Standards. To find out how

To keep the Botanical Garden beautiful and
enjoyable for everyone, please make sure
that your students follow these rules during
your visit:
- Do eat only in the designated picnic area.
- Do put trash in trash cans.
- Do stay on paths.
- Do make sure your class is orderly at all
times.
- Touching plants is allowed only in the Ruth
Rea Howell Family Garden and the Everett
Children’s Adventure Garden.
- Do not pick the flowers, leaves, seeds, or
branches anywhere.
- Do not use the Garden as a playground—no
sports or radio playing.
